I absolutely could make it so that you wouldn't have to ever change your password on here again, but you probably wouldn't appreciate my method.
All kidding aside, the reason is simple, security. There are several ways to remember your changing password, one of which is to use a password with an incrementing series... aka... something like your actual initials followed by a 4 digit number and a 'bang' (Unix users know I mean an exclamation point). Then you increment the numbers and possibly the special charactor.
So... Initially it could be MGJ2525! And the next one could be MGJ3636!
