Something I’ve noticed recently:
Clients expect results in weeks, not months.
Budgets are tighter.
Patience is lower than ever.
But Google updates, competition, and costs keep increasing.
So I’m curious:
- Why do you think client expectations are getting unrealistic?
- Is it because of AI, fake case studies, or bad agencies?
- How do you set expectations without losing the client?
No tactics — just real-world experience.
They are not intelligent and want everything they missed out on doing for cheap or free and they have no idea what it takes.
The scammers and snake oil salesmen prevalent on this forum pitching are also responsible, unrealistic low prices just to grab a buck, advertising "domain authority" pages with no traffic or domain relevance etc.
Every single one cheap, non working wannabe cheat in seo is to be found on this very forum, peddled by people with no idea, not one link was sewn, not one proof of delivery, yet the people still go with them because they think domain authority means Jack's all and the offers appear cheap.
I have worked within and led the world's top seo teams in online casinos and what I see peddled online makes my head hurt.
Think of it, if the people haven't worked in top teams, how much can they ever know. Nothing.
Everyone selling the non existent hack.
That is why the clients behave like they do.
I had retired from doing seo, but seing the demand I might come back to offer such.
So yeah everything that doesn't work is read by people online and you never see what actually works, because it's dry and boring, it's more what not to do, I believe and wish Google will come down extremly hard on the stupid spammers and scammer and penalise everyone who used their services to oblivion, that'll separate the boys from the men very fast.
When googles seo guidelines are the closest thing to the truth then you know that the ecosystem is infected with slimy snake oil salesmen.
The customers are also frustratingly dumb to fall for that stuff.
Every time I see domain authority pitched, I die a bit inside.
