If you google stuff like charity donations you get plenty well-known charity associations like Unicef that buys google ads spots and when you click on that, you get a landing page where you can send them the money... why? Where do they get the money to buy google ads, shouldn't they send the the money for charity things?

They aren't meant to be keeping the profit, it's supposed to be used to give to needy causes.
I am someone who does this. Google has a charity program that grants qualifying non-profits up to $10,000 USD per month to run ads - so essentially free. There are major restrictions. Charities get grants and donations based on the good they do. Most people that need a charity's services begin the search to solve their problem by "googling" it. Running free Google ads allows the charity to reach people at the beginning stage
