Why do bloggers push affiliate programs?

Hi, im not an affiliate but run a website, trying to expand with affiliates (mostly bloggers) and trying to gather some data on how the process works. I see bloggers have affiliate banners on their site but im wondering why you do this.


Let's say you become an affiliate for me. Now you put my banner on your blog. Didnt you make more with adsense than you will with my banner? I cant compete with you getting payed $.50c-$2 for someone just clicking the adsense banner.

So if i tell you we're selling a product for $100 and you get 60%........ thats $60 profit for you..... it may take more clicks to make a sale for my product then if you just run adsense and get your $60 in clicks which at $1 average click is obviously 60 clicks.


When bloggers act as affiliates do they email their email list as well? Is that a big constant source of revenue as far as promoting an affiliate your representing? thank you, looking forward to responses.

First, this applies only to blogging.

Arent adsense banner clicks more profitable usually than placing an affiliate banner because you dont need to worry about conversions? You get payed regardless, all they need to do is click. Do bloggers generally email their reader lists to promote the affiliate product?
 
Op, only few bloggers can earn enough by blogging. Here is the deal...everyone wanna be like thsoe few bloggers, so they do what they do and guess what, they miserably fail.

BUT, the point is, if you have 1000 bloggers promote your shit, and you get 1 sale from each blogger each month, you get 1000 sales. You get rich and they wonder why they fail. They all think they will earn as much as Pat from SPI

Adsense: 1 visitor may equal 1 click which may equal $1.
Affiliate: 1 visitor may equal 1 buy which may equal $60. (preferably a recurring $60 every month :p)

The idea though would be to use both. You just have to find the best places to place them. Each have their own pros/cons and where they should be placed.

My plan is to contact as many bloggers in my relevant niche per day..... leave a nice message on how i think they can make money and either call or signup as an affiliate and then leave link........ then ask them to do the following three things once they signup with us:

1)email their list (i may get lucky like this and some have a large email lists)
2)place banners on blog
3)write short article about us


Do you think this is feasible? It seems you do? I also plan on having a VA doing all the contacting if i can make the numbers work myself so it seems it can be highly scaleable and really build up over time. Thoughts?
 
It's all about what you are good at.If you are good at optimizing your blog so you get more click throughs then PPC is what will make you the most.

If you are targeting a keyword for a brand or review then CPC is what you want.It's about what the blog owner likes.
 
I was thinking the same thing. Additionally i believe that i should target bloggers who have opt in lists because its easier (and makes more sense) for them to promote affiliate programs like i offer.

So if they have 10k emails, send out my offer... maybe we both make a little money, then they say ok i should put a banner, maybe they say hmm that sucked i hate you... and maybe they say every 3 months ill email my new list subscribers your offer.

I think ive gained a lot of knowledge and appreciate everyones responses here. Basically there is no yes or no. For sure my offer needs to perform, i think persuasion toward the affiliate will be important as well. Thanks again.
 
I do both, I place Adsense around the content (not over the top like most bloggers) and affiliate links within the content. I also review products.

Affiliate sales make more.

Geez ok really? Its for income man, to monetize from traffic and conversions. Pays the bills!
 
Come on swaggura... we're all adults here (i think), i know the purpose of you placing some sort of banners on site, the question was why place affiliate offers vs. adsense.

I was under the assumption adsense was more profitable for bloggers vs. affiliate programs but "This Web Guy" kindly added:
