Why did my indexed pages double?

Indexed pages have always been volitile but at a reasonable amount. I just noticed that our indexed pages have doubled over the weekend. Does anyone know what could cause that? How can I tell which ones are the newest?

I see a ton of URLs now with chinese writing in them, not sure what that is about. Please let me know if you have any ideas what's going on.

Second what @IM Dude says. You've probably been hacked if you see chinese characters and you're not active on ZH market.
I suggest collecting some URLs to show the problem to the dev team or the webmaster, and discuss with him/her how to proceed.

This is because Google loves BHW and its pages are indexed with lightening speed.

Yeah it's not looking good. My dev/boss is not very happy.

From what he can tell, we are not "hacked". The chinese pages all have a referring URL, all of which lead to a 404. But for some reason these pages are being indexed by G. Is anyone else seeing their site do this? It also seems like it is not respecting one of the blocks we have in place in robots which is where most of the pages are coming from. But there are still roughly 200 of these chinese pages and I am worried that number is going to grow larger.

What can I do?

Should I just stay on top of sorting through them and adding to disavow?

I really don't want a penalty from this. So far GSC impressions and clicks are healthy. Should I even be worried?

This is Korean, probably the kind of mass-generated spam that automatically crawls other websites and copies the content of other websites as theirs.

Their approach is to buy a large number of cheap domain names, quickly generate websites, and occupy the rankings, so that customers can click into their websites to watch the advertisements on their websites.
