Why contabo's prices are cheap? what's the catch?

They have their own data centers, so why not?
The CPU steal is high as compared to others, IOPS is limited and network is okayish.
For hosting WP/ HTML sites, shouldn't be a problem.
Also, being cheap attracts lot of abusers. I have lot of IP's from Contabo which are blacklisted.
They are simply trying to brute force wp login pages.

One of the people I know ran his site on Contabo and experienced a fatal failure which rendered his site irrevocably lost.
Contabo sent mail explaining that their computer had RAID failure and that they didn't manage to restore data after it.
From that it seems they are running refurbished or otherwise cheap servers with people that don't have much experience
running hosting stuff. Add 2 and 2 and you get a reason for cheap prices.
If that doesn't bother you, this guy ran on Contabo for year or so before this incident.

One of the reason could be their aiming high volume sales. That is one of marketing and business strategy.
