Total number of internet users (Dec 2022) = 5 billion

Total number of ChatGPT users (Dec 2022) = 1 million

Current adoption rate = 1,000,000 / 5,000,000,000 = 0.02% of the people with access to the Internet have created a ChatGPT account.

If OpenAi plays this right, they can share the cake with Google.
 
I actually dream of 99% adoption. Only then people will realise how stupid ai can be. Win win for us mortals. You don’t want to hire a coder or a seo expert? Ok, best of luck with the ai! Hope you survive! ;)
 
2% adoption rate in such a short time is crazy. Bare in mind that the effort to use ChatGPT is much higher compared to a simple Google search.
 
A friend of mine who is a developer told me that Google's LaMDA will be wider in scope as compared to what ChatGPT currently seems to be and Google has planned to integrate LaMDA with Google Docs, Gmail, etc. So, it is doubtful that ChatGPT would dwarf Google, as Google's products / services are already widely adopted.

True though. Chatgpt as a search engine is pretty dope. Unfortunately, it won’t remain free forever. One credit per query isn’t that cheap hehe lol (atleast that’s how dalle 2 works from the same company). If this is kept free, trust me.. google will be gone in the next 5 years.
 
I now do some task with chatgpt instead of using Google, if they play it write, they'll definitely get somewhere

Google describes itself as an index of the web, they dont hold responsibility for what you find as long as it's legal, when you ask ChatGPT a question, the company seems to act as if they hold responsibility for the output, law is still primitive in that aspect, that's why there still censorship in ChatGPT.

People who are laughing at ChatGPT today can be compared to the the people who were laughing at Bitcoin and Crypto in 2008.

Not sure if GPT is going to replace Google, etc., but along with other AI tools and it will become one of the most valuable tools for many of us.

But if google doesnt exist how you guys will make money with this chat thing? He will not show your website like google search or your youtube video. You cant monetize it without google or something similar. And you call it AI, but is nothing more than a bot that cant think for itself, it just uses language models that are feed to him. AI is still a far dream for us humans but at least we have some bots that can rewrite some content, its a good start.
 
It's gonna be paid so it won't kill Google for sure.

They're more likely to work with Bing, as Microsoft pretty much owns OpenAI at this point. I can't see any sort of Google/OpenAI partnership happening.
 
chat GPT data are i think not including the latest news. a year behind I think. so google will still be the preferred method of most internet users.
