The PR won't necessarily reset. If the links that originally gave the sites PR5 still exist and they are valued the same by Google, then the website will remain PR5. Just check the backlinks in yahoo site explorer.
You can try, but I suggest don't waste your time & money. The PRs will drop as soon as the next update. Mattcutts has confirmed about those reset on expired domains, you can google it.
