I have been thinking about opening an online store for a while but I just could never understand why someone wouldn't just directly search amazon for what they want. Why would someone buy from an online store that wasn't amazon?

Because for example I like to support the local stores etc. in Finland, if the price is reasonable. Not saying I pay double the price, but for example with normal pricing some of the Finnish online stores match Amazon's price, even better since delivery charges will be applied from Amazon.

There are advantages you can use, you just need to know yours.

In addition to the above comment... People overall tend to search on Google More then Amazon for things that they wish to buy...

If your site comes up and they are satisfied then they will buy from you.

That makes sense. I'll find what I need to know. Guess I just needed to hear it from one person haha.

Also if you give away a gift or something valuable for people they'll come to your store. As jigartank1225 said Google is used for searching products to buy so the first impression of your site is very very important and (obviously) don't forget social medias. The more you engage the more chances you have.

Just my 2 cents ;)

Yea the giveaway is a good idea. Just wondering because I definitely bypass google and go straight for amazon most times. I'll definitely keep the store in mind.

Also, send what you are selling to Amazon as well, that way you cover both places, Google and Amazon. FBA is great for that, if you sell for a cheap enough price at least, or something unique.
