They do sometimes, when it happens, it's funny.

Many bigass sites can be outranked on any sub-main keyword easily with seo research/knowhow, google just puts it there as a respectable placeholder until something better comes along.

Big sites are having big power. If google ban those sites, then how google will get its food. It is its own wish which to ban and which not to.

Quality Site's never get punished by google. because they have what user want's & Looking for. The site is build for users not for ads.

This isn't strictly true. I think a lot of the Demand Media sites got nuked by a few G updates. They only have a handful of remaining ones - Livestrong and eHow, I think.

Large sites are normally old sites meaning they carry a lot of domain authority and trust flow. Once a website passes the 5 year mark you can get away with a lot more. The younger a website the cleaner it must be.
