Why backlinks are so important in SEO?

Hi all BWF friends

Can you share your thought why backlinks are so important in SEO?

because there are only 10 spots on the 1st page of google where people can rank for to get traffic (most traffic rarely visits the 2nd page of google, that's why the 1st page is the most important one), and there are millions of people trying to rank on page 1 to get one of those 10 spots.

And google needs to decide which 10 sites (well, pages, not sites) of the millions that are available in the world should take up those 10 spots and one of the most accurate ways of choosing the winners is their number and quality of backlinks because google thinks that if a page has many backliniks coming from popular and / or authoritative sites then it means that THAT particular page is important and deserves one of those 10 spots.
 
Because backlinks are one of the only ways bots can determine whether an article is worth reading or not.
 
Backlinks are still one of the biggest ranking factors in Google so without backlinks it's more less impossible for Google to improve a ranking of a website without high quality links.

You may want to look backlinks like thumbs up you get the higher you rank in Google is governed a large part by how many backlinks you can mostly high-quality ones.

View backlinks as recommendations in real life. If you're looking for where to shop from and there are two(or more available shops). From which would you shop?
-The one with many positive recommendations
- Or the ones with little or no recommendations at all?

If quality of sites are all the same or similar the sites with a higher number of better quality backlinks would always take the top spot.

Links in SEO has great importance because by different links your work will be shown as well as BHW is a great platform through you can learn a great knowledge.
 
Even after all the news about seo is still relevant the number of backlinks and the quality of them. Like previous guys was said how can google decide what site to add at the top? They check the backlinks profile to see if the site have high authority....
