Wine doesn't work 100% of the time
I want to use pro tools and ableton live
my wife won't learn gimp (she's photoshop-only), she can't mount a network-shared media folder on linux, she can't start a vpn on linux, etc
there's always gonna be a windows machine in my house

give me better automated memory management on Linux and that's all that's left for me to swap permanently.

I've had both and i prefer windows for the looks and how easy to use it is

Almost everything works on Linux between emulation and VM. Emulation has come so far but having to run bloated VM's on certain things that won't run emulated properly really sucks.User-friendliness is more important. Very few people will understand how to work on Linux.
Most of the Apps/software work on Windows only.
I find Windows easy to use and very familiar as I am using it since windows 98.
The biggest reason for me keeping windows I use it often so familiar with it and many software you buy works purely on Windows or you need Windows one way or another if Scrapebox decided today they would put in place Linux I would be more likely to buy Linux or something else but I do have Linux laptop ordered at the moment since not worked on Linux in a while so interested to see how things go again.

most of the software either have open source alternative or can work with wine I think that a lot of people can use Linux without a windows vm

I had to switch to Linux for a month because of my job.
Windows is much more polished and feels more professional.
It's just slicker.
See, when you're an OS that requires to do THAT in order to just change the mouse scroll speed :
You lose. You just lose.
On the other hand, on windows :
And this example could be made about just anything.
For example, drag and drop don't work half of the time on Linux.
The idea that something free can compete with a billion-dollar company is ludicrous.
Linux is good for backend, servers, dev, etc. Not for desktop usage.
But that's an outdated debate. People with money are using Mac. Even software devs because it's unix based.
Gamers of course are using windows.
People who want to feel that they're cool and hacky and edgy uses Linux and talk about it all the time.

Yeah but this is fun. It's fun getting things to work. I guess that's the difference in mindset.
