why are threads getting deleted?

Two threads I was following, one on favorite blogs and another one about aged domain advice have been deleted, does this happen alot and why?

Quite annoying because I planned to come back to threads for later reading and advice.

Im pretty sure I know which two your talking about, if so its because the poster was constantly self promoting his websites in every other post.

Common sense, mods don't delete threads for the fun of it, they actually encourage information sharing, it's just those people who never heard of rules.
