Why are some DropCatch domains with "low" DA so expensive ?

Just wanted to pick your brains.

I was looking at 2 totally random domains that are currently listed on dropcatch.

innerhappiness.com - Ahref is showing UR17 and DA19 with 86 refering domains and 1 organic KW. This is currently being bidded to $1661 as we speak.

The other domain is yourplant.com which is currently going for $207. This domain does not even have a rank on Ahref and has a DA of 1 in Moz.

Any particular reasons why these domains are disproportionately expensive ? I had a look at innerhappiness.com's history and the content I would say from archive.org isn't even useable as it is a service selling website - so its not like they can "restore any value" from the content.

I have seen a number of domains like this and just wanted to educate myself as to what makes them so special ?

It's the name dude, not the metrics. There are two ways domains are valued SEO(Metrics/links) and then the name itself.

DA doesn't mean shit, you will need a backlink profile to see if they are really worth it, if you are going to rely on DA to buy domains you are going to get burned on a regular basis.

Also there is the (like others have been saying) fact of brand-ability

This right here ^^ @fc-dh knows what he's talking about. Never go by any metrics honestly, just check out links, contextual/editorial links are great, then check for spam anchors/archive/hosting history.

OK, I get the brandable factor - but what about something like "innerhappiness.com" ? Is that the DA + the fact that it is brandable ? I just thought $1600 or even that $200 for "yourplant.com" is overly expensive no ? Or do you guys think it is a fair price ?

@AceCobra1 It's just how the market works. Just because you don't value a domain doesn't make or break it's price. For SEO people it's the link profile, for other domainers it's the actual domain name.

You need to understand that DA is not a reliable metric. Sure, you can use it as one of the filters, but by itself DA is garbage. As a matter of fact, all metrics are just indicators, they are good for filtering a huge list of domains. But you'll see often that a high DA/PA/TF/DR domain is actually garbage. For any of the following reasons:

1) Links are from shitty blog comments/directories/spammed domains/non-contextual
2) Domain has good links but is spammed (viagra or unrelated anchors), repurposed(used by an SEO before), anchors are relatable but penalized (you'll see 1 anchor with a very high %)
3)Used for 301 before to a spammy site

etc...

If you're going to choose your domains solely based on DA or any other metric, you are setting yourself up for failure.
