Why are so many IM tools written only for Windows?

Title says it all. Linux command line tools are way more convenient when you want to actually operationalize something. I really wish there were more IM tools that ran on linux. Am I just overlooking some common tools?

Most windows tools can be made to work on Linux with a bit of extra work

Linux requires technical knowledge to use it properly.Not all marketers are computer savy.

It's not hard to write tools in a cross platform manner but it seems like all IM tools are Windows only.
