Sounds about right. Look up the "pareto principle". It applies to a lot of things in this world, not just the distribution of intelligence.

There are 3 categories of people:
The Stupid - I will make sure both sides, me and the other one, will lose in the X deal.
The Naive - Even if I'll lose, let's the other one win, every time. No problem at at all...
The Smart - I will make sure that everyone gain something from the X deal.
I suppose every one of us has at least once been stupid or naive. I know I have been many, many times. And yet I try to belong as much to the third category as possible. Do you?

People are intelligent for specific areas. For other areas we are quite dumb. You will be surprised how smart they are at their profession. It's normal.
