Why are GAMBLING links frowned upon

Some people see gambling as unethical.
Because in the US in alot of states online gambling is illigal.
And you can go to jail by just working for a company involved in this if you go to the us apperently this happened more then once.
Other then that I'd imagine you're basically betting for other people to lose money as most affiliate links offer only money when people lose money.
But there's lots of money involved so if you manage to get alot of traffic then yeah you'd make a shit ton if your visitors lose money through your affiliate links.

The US does not own the internet you know. Also if gambling links are bad, how do you think people with gambling related websites rank them. Just another SEO myth invented by a self proclaimed guru.

Stigma around gambling links is entirely based on personal biases and complications that arise as a direct consequence of that (because so many people "don't like them", other "reputable" business also want to avoid them and ofc everyone must follow their local rules and regulations in that niche). Quality sites and links from them are just as good as any other.
I used to be a gambling professional, so in my world it was all about the odds and expected value, just calculated risk vs reward. When someone is addicted to gambling and wants to lose all their money, it's not the systems fault, it's the players! Morals_lol

Google it, seriously ceo's and executives of gambling corporations have been arrested for just taking a flight, that made a stop in the US.
If your gambling website has served even 1 US citizen, I woulden't dare to take a flight stop in the US.
If you don't care for ever visiting the US yeah no problems.
Being affiliated might not get you into serious problems, but you never know.
People have been convicted for lesser things for longer centences in the US.

I think you are missing the point. A lot of people here are not in the US and it is not illegal in their country so therefore your assumption that "because US doesn't like it" is not valid answer to this persons question. The US does not represent the internet as a whole, thus making their position on the matter secondary.

I bet it is because most convert their traffic to the sponsors that frown upon gambling. Means, you can loose your income & get your account banned if such sponsor sees your site tied with gambling sites - go explain to them that you're not the one holding the bag lol...

Sure if you're never gonna go there on vacation or anywhere else for that matter where gambling is illegal you'll be fine.
