I have a niche adult video site that I started about 6 months ago.

My traffic is still pretty small, but its high quality (80%+ T1) and has essentially doubled each month for the past 3 months.

A large amount of my traffic is direct, so mostly through watermarked videos I've shared on other sites, reddit, x, etc.

I built everything myself using NextJS and video hosting on Cloudflare CDN, and due to the low costs of operation ($5-7/mo) I haven't yet implemented any monetization strategies.

Based on my Google Analytics, only about 5% of my organic search traffic comes from Google, the rest coming from Bing, Duckduckgo, Yandex, Yahoo, etc.

Interestingly, I rank in the top 3 results for my niche on those other search engines, but I only rank for my branded site title keywords on Google. I only have a couple of backlinks currently.

Do any of you know why I'm not ranking on Google but doing so well on those other search engines?

Maybe it's just Google's backlink weight algorithm, or the domain trust issue with new sites in certain niches.Wait it out for another month or two; if that doesn't change anything, build some backlinks or using redirects may help.

I’m actually more curious if you’ve done SEO specifically for Yahoo or other local search engines, and what your strategy was?My site performs well on Google, but it struggles to even get indexed on Yahoo and Baidu(the dominant search engine in China).

Six month is still early .Building authority and earning relevant backlinks

Google uses a much stricter ranking algorithm than most other search engines. If you're ranking well on Bing or DuckDuckGo but not on Google, I'd first check indexing, Search Console for any issues, backlink quality, content relevance, and overall site authority. Also, recent Google core updates may have changed how your site is evaluated. It's worth doing a full technical and content audit before assuming it's just a ranking issue.

SEO is a sum zero game, so whether it's easier or hard to rank on a specific engine affects all players the same. Maybe it has more to do with the age of the side, and in this case it would affect the differently.

One thing to consider is that Bing's userbase is a lot older than Google's maybe that's the thing? Not sure about DuckDuckGo, but I'd assume it's also 30+

Google takes time longer than other search engines to trust a website. Also ranking variables that google uses are also much complicated than those used by other search engines.

it comes down to the fundamentally different ways google handles algorithmic trust, safety filtering, and backlink requirements compared to other search engines.

Google often evaluates new sites more conservatively than other search engines especially in competitive niches If you're already ranking well elsewhere focus on building high quality backlinks improving topical authority and making sure your pages are fully crawlable and indexed in Search Console Sometimes it simply takes more time for Google to build confidence in a newer domain.

Since Google doesn’t rely heavily on backlinks anymore, you need to focus on creating pages that act as true magnets for your users.
Try to boost the human engagement signals that Google values most.

Google is usually much stricter with new sites, especially in the adult niche. Limited backlinks, low authority and Google's trust signals can slow rankings, while other search engines often pick up niche content faster. Keep building quality links and give it more time.

Google is more strict than other search engines especially for new websites. If you are already ranking well on other search engines then that is a good sign.

I would recommend to building more quality backlinks, improving content and giving more time to Google to trust on site.

With only a couple backlinks, Google probably just doesnt trust the domain yet. Since its NextJS I’d also check the rendered HTML and indexing in GSC, because Bing can rank pages that Google barely understands lol.

First I will consider indexing. In the case of website using Next.js and having many video google usualy renders these page differently from bing. there is no point in improvng the page since they are not indexed.

Different search engines weigh signals differently if the site is growing everywhere else I'd keep improving content and authority instead of making drastic changes just for google

Your growth look promising. Strong direct traffic is a good sign, but google usually wants stronger authority signals than other search engines. A solid backlink profile and patience can make a big difference over time.

Google usually takes longer to trust newer sites especially in competitive niches if other search engines are sending traffic I'd keep building authority and be patient

It’s pretty normal for new sites to see that split. Google is just much more conservative with new domains and usually requires a longer "trust" period and more authority than other search engines.

Keep building quality backlinks, improving your content, and be patient.
