why am I not making $20k a month?

Who said people are only paying $2000 a month? I know some companies pay $10000 a month.

You could do that If you Target some Local SEO clients Swiss and Norway,Finland. i do know the Min price Local seo companies in these countries is over $1.5 to $2k per month and they are so easy keywords:)

Its not easy as you wrote, it could take you an years of work.
 
Doing the work isn't the hard part, it's getting the customers. These business owners are spammed to death by foreign companies offering SEO services. You need to show them that you've helped someone that they know in their niche, otherwise you won't get their attention.
 
Can you manage 10 clients in the same time? If you can do it, then you can make $20,000 monthly.

If you are not able to do it, consider hiring employees to help you.

Now where did you get this?

I've multiple clients that are paying less than a 1000$ for their SEO service, granted some of the keywords are easy, but people aren't stupid here either. If the keywords are really easy and there's no competition they can rank themselves by configuring a SEO plugin for Wordpress. So think a little before you toss out these "estimates".

well the question simply doesnt make sense for two reasons?

1. If you want to charge a price like that, the value should be just so should be the ROI to your client....if you are just looking to bank and if for you SEO is just about outsourcing links and ranking it without adding your secret sauce...there nothing worth 2 grands about it!

2. Thats the reason you are still thinking, the number you are getting out of thin air without any base or predefined logic is another aspect why there is no sense to this!

However there is nothing and nobody can limit you if you know what you are doing and you are doing it well.

Research, research, research! Even if you aren't actually providing SEO services just yet, you could be researching into what other people are doing that you COULD be doing. If you think of the grand scheme of things, $2,000 is a lot of money. What makes you stand out with your services more than the other big cats?

Like other people have said, yeah, $20,000 is waaay up there compared to the average joe. I say, if you aren't doing it right this second, I'd be googling my hind end off and then when I thought I knew everything, I'd be googling some more to see what others had that I could one up. I might be stating some obvious things, but hey, if it doesn't help you at all, it might help some other guy who sees these numbers and has their jaws drop. I've got a friend right now I'm talking to over skype that I'm probably going to show this thread tomorrow.

You're selling them more business and profits, not SEO.
Noone really cares about SEO, all people want is more traffic and customers.

The longer version is that it depends on the client and your results.

On the other note.. OP your idea is good, but your numbers are little bit too enthusiastic considering that you posted that ridiculous post.
I'd lower that number little bit and start working on this goal of yours. Maybe in few years you can start chargin $2k per client and you could make much more than $20k a month :)

I can tell you that even when you offer your SEO services for a total of 2,000 USD a month,
there'll be a bunch of other guys who deliver the same or even better quality for a fraction of your price.
