Hey!

Having some huge issues with impression drops, resulting in click drops as well.

Running a music site where people can review albums (that's a long story short, but whatever). It's a fixed amount of albums (1001) and each albums has it's own page with reviews thats indexable.
I used to get around 10k impressions a day, but then it suddenly dropped to 1k a day in the middle of may (before the May Core Update). And now it's down to almost nothing (100s, if even that).
That's for Google. Bing has stayed at the same level as before.

Most impressions came from queries such as "\albumName\ 1001 albums" where most of my album pages ended up top 10. Sometimes even with a page snippet.

Now a days, i pretty much have to search for the exact name of the site to even find it on google. Funny thing is, even if i search for the exact name of the site and then prefix it with a name of the album that is on the site it doesnt show up:
"\Exact Site Name\" ->>> Result #1. Fuck me otherwise. It's a pretty unique name.

"\Exact Site Name\ The Stone Roses" ->>> Neither my main page nor that specific album page is in the top 100. Even though that specific page is indexed and has good performance (more on that below). I mean, even if my page isnt fully optimized the pages that are showing up at the SERP for these queries are basically AI generated spam pages.
On bing its still #1.

I'm certainly no SEO-expert and i'm sure the site can be more optimized, however i find this to be interesting so i've tried to investigate as much as i can. Here's what i've checked so far.
  • All pages are still indexed.
  • No errors in google search console.
  • Lighthouse is giving me 100% on SEO.
  • Performance/Page Experience/Core Vitals is good.
  • My structured data is valid.
  • No manual actions required.
  • I checked the commit history for around the days the drop started. I added some google structured data for Reviews. They were validated before i added them.
  • Followed normal SEO guidelines.

Attaching two images.
One is showing the impressive impression drop from Google Search Console.
The other one is showing a similar drop in organic keywords, taken from SemRush. Ahrefs is showing a similar drop.

So, any ideas on what is going on here?

"Bad content" is the easy way out i guess, but this seems like a very drastic drop.
The content on all these pages are user created reviews. Some pages have many reviews and thus gets pretty huge, content wise.
They all have proper page titles and h1 is always the album name.

Provide your website address and then let me check up what's going wrong by it?

It could be 4 results penalty, did you check with site:yoursite to see if the pages are indexed ?

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that your website is based on user-generated content/.

You said that your site features music albums that people can review.

Google went through a major update recently and it crushed a lot of sites, and expertise is a key factor.

As you probably already know, Google released their EAT initiative a while back.

EAT stands for Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness.

So user-generated review sites may run afoul of EAT guidelines.

Because there's really no way to know what the credentials of these people are.

Compare this with Quora where there has a credential system so there is some sort of objective indicator of the person sharing a top-ranked answer knows what they're talking about or at least has some reason for thinking that they know what they're talking about.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to get across here.

You might have to change the orientation of your site assuming that your traffic volume remains depressed in the coming months.
