Why all keywords lost their position

Also the fact that since Co-vid the travel niche has got hammered!

Is there a cheaper alternative to MagivSerp?
I couldn't find another service that would fit my needs. I like that it's fast and simple to set up a campaign. Okay they are probably not super cheap but they helped me a lot!

Hello,

Back in June 2020 I have launched my website and during August 2020 I have created unique content for 100 landing pages of different products and added 50 posts to the blog. I have used SEMrush and Marketmuse when writing the new content to ensure targeting the keywords properly.

When I started the work I have had the website ranking for 42 keywords organically. Over the next month I have had the website ranking for aprox. 2000 keywords worldwide. This was for about 3 months then in December suddenly the keywords started to lose their positions and disappear. This kept dragging and now I am at square one where I only have about 70 keywords only with organic ranking.

What could have gone wrong to cause this drop? Is it related to the lack of traffic? or something else?

I read your all messages. We see you have done 100% original content and optimized as per the SEMrush suggestion. Have to know when you started your off-page SEO and what type of link building you have done.

Google Update won't affect all the keyword ranking if they ranked naturally and getting links from high authority sites.

Reason: Might be
1. Low-quality backlinks
2. Poor or Over Optimization
3. Content does not meet user's expectations or requirements
4. Not niche related backlinks
etc

It can be fixed by few factors.

my site also hit by December update
yesterday i just checked to find many spams and low-quality links
i am trying to disavow these links

You did reach the right page. Do you mind to visit the page again and drop me FB message. so we could discuss this further.
simply leave me a pm you can as well send me the keywords you target I can do an audit - no problem

We have built a handful of backlinks only then stopped as we didn't want to build not niche related links.

How do you suggest to fix this?

It's a major problem for many niches. Nobody does anything about it.
Yeah unfortunately Ads is kinda popular. Thats what I'll never understand, because there were many researches which proven that it isn't that effective (because many ppl simply won't click them). In addition to this it can cost a fortune & once you stop promoting with Google they will rank your site lower than it's original position.

How did you check that? I used tools such as Semrush and Ahrefs and I don't see any issues with the backlinks.

Try to improve On-page SEO,
Reconstruct your contents, design your Domain themes.
Do analyse your keyword competition and research your Competitors, add strategic keywords to the site that are low competition. Reduce Keyword cannibalization, the usage of similar keyword, spread throughout the content of your page and URL, causes not to discern which content to rank higher. In ideal, keyword density in 1-3 % per 100 words, which apparance that the page is about without engaging in keyword stuffing.

We understand this. Our content is Q&A to the most asked questions on google.

My website is about travel visas thus due to the pandemic there was no traffic coming to the website. Additionally, I only created a handful of backlinks manually.

What could have gone wrong to cause this drop? Is it related to the lack of traffic? or something else?

There was an update in december 2020, however you still have chance for getting the previous rankings back:

First, find out the reason behind ranking lost:

1) Does your website have unique content
2) Check backlinks in SEMrush, and figure out the backlinks coming from other websites are relevant or not

1- Yes, all content was written from scratch.
2 - You can see below the backlinks audit. I just removed the link highlighted by Semrsuh but I don't think it's the reason for this drop.

Any ideas on how to get the ranking back as it cost us 3000+ keywords

Seems like a Google Update causes this downfall, apart from the Google update I do not suggest any other issue as this is the only possible reason. Try creating some more blog posts and get them ranked so that you can see whether your website has still been hitting or not.

What should I do to be in compliance with this update? as all I can read online is that content must be genuine and correct.

How many time its been since this hit is visible? I need to understand this impact based on that I can recommend sometime to you. What I currently understand that you have travel niche and this niche is getting low traffic so there can be a chance that keywords get a hit.

We published the new content in August and immediately keywords started to rank organically for 3 months. The drop started in Dec and still happening.

Hate to break it to you but many of us don't know either.

My site had personally been affected. So were my friends. One of my friend's site is 100% genuine, whitehat (natural backlinks) and she even appeared on a local TV show. Yet, her site was hit by all the Google updates since last year. She sort of gave up on her website already.

This recent April update was the strangest one of all. I've seen very very old competitors' websites appearing again and they're old content that were published few years back.

It is odd, really. The "Google rewards quality content" is just gibberish.

For my niche/market, I'm seeing lots of fake press release, sponsored posts, and low quality websites ranking. It just don't make sense. Even my competitor's website whom put so much more effort than me (references, personal screenshots/photos, bio, and so on) was hit too.
