Today the dvd writer on my old laptop (2,5 years old hehe) refuse to work anymore.. I've decided is time to buy a new notebook ...
Wht you guys have and recommend me ..

Dell M90 precision workstation here. By far the best machine I have ever used. I rebuild laptops for my bro's business so i work on nearly every model. The M90 is in a class by itself. When it was first released it actually outperformed several desktops of comparable specs.

Levono Thinkpad x61 tablet WITHOUT vista. Solid performance, really great for traveling and good on blood pressure if you don't have vista.

MacBook...

For a better performance, probably MacBook Pro...

My macbook have been very reliable for the past 3 yrs and counting.

I ran Parallel software to fire up Windows XP whenever I need it. Usually to run IM software.

Parallel can make Windows and OS X dance like 2 lovebirds... I recommend running it if you have 2Gb of ram.

I'm also looking for a 2nd mini-laptop for the road.

Was very impressed with MSI Wind. Saw it demo-ed in my country's PC Show few days ago.

My dream mini-laptop would be Sharp's Willcom D4. Waiting for review once it is released end of this month.

Also keeping watch on Acer Inspire One.

Guys I feel Im not ready yet for a MAC :)

You were born ready...

Every time I need to use windows I feel like an eighty year old grandma using a computer for the first time ; )

Voodoo just created a new gaming laptop that is insane. It is the best you can find right now, but very pricey. http://www.voodoopc.com/

dell xps series. make sure you visit my site and get some stuffing before you head over to ebay or amazon :)

jk. i don't even know how to make stuffing yet...

I have a Toshiba Satellite. I prefer my desktops, but it's solid laptop. I've owned it for almost 2 years and I have no complaints about it. Laptops are always slower than desktops in my opinion, even with the same specs. Also buy Windows don't listen to the Mac fan boys.

Why would you "BUY" windows? It's much more satisfying to steal it.

My honest suggestion to you is . . . Try to get a notebook that can do what you want to do.

Don't focus too much on the brand name . . . usually price is the problem, but be sure to get something that will do what you want.

On top of that . . . don't pay for extras that you will not require or use. Save yourself some cash here.

Well I'm planning to do some travel this summer (including US may be) so I dont want to get in trouble in getting stamped as terrorist :D:D for not having licensed software <- Am I paranoic ?:cool:

Yeah Surfbay Thats my point also.. I'm not a gadget kind of person.. I buy only what I really need/use

I've got a Dell XPS 1210. Reason? It's small and weighs about 2 kg.
It's got all the power I need (I do my gaming on the high end desktop) and it's easy to carry around.

Just thought i'd chime in and say i hate Dell. I used to work with computers and their hardware is poor at best, or at least it was.

I own a fairly old, but slightly modded Sony Vaio. I upped the HD to 250GB and the Ram to 2GB and it's faultless, plus it's 13.3" and weighs fuck all. I'll be on a Mac before i get sucked into using Windows Vista Spyware.

I bought a HP cuz i got a really good deal on it.. almost half price. But I would just say that if you're like me and only use it around the house, buy a large 17inch screen. I have a 15.1 inch and find it small when coding and doing general stuff.

My first laptop, a dell 8500 lasted me just over 5 years and died because I left a game running on it while it was on my bed.. so the vents were all covered and the graphics card fried. :(

Oh yeah.... and Stay the f*ck away from vista.. lol
XP pro is so much faster.
