Who's using Tor/Tails or other anon software

I've just started to look into it, not that I'm doing anything illegal, but I like the idea of being a little more anon on the web. Anyone else been doing this or is everyone doing it and I'm late to the party.

dual boot with linux. use macchanger to spoof your mac address, as this can also be used to determine your location etc.

I like to use a VPS with lubuntu desktop on it to surf the web. Theres really not much need for tor or any slow kind of anonymizer like that when using a remote desktop. If the govt wanted to spy on you they could obtain that directly from your ISP and theres not much you can do about that.

If you really want to try to be anonymous, write a live USB install of a linux desktop to a USB, boot from it on a public computer like at a library, spoof your mac and use tor or something like that.

I'm currently using tails with iceweasle and mac spoofing on at a starbucks. All on a usb. About as anon as you can get without fashioning a tinfoil hat.

But lets be honest, if the creator of the SR is getting caught what chance do any of us have if we were going to do some really shady stuff. Obviously no ones looking for me and I'm not buying blow or ordering hits, so this is probably about as good as anything

he got caught because he used gmail LOL and google gave them the IP of his VPN, which he bought with his credit card, and made a predictable habit of logging into gmail from the same internet cafe in san fransico. With a name they got a face from the cameras in the cafe.

i think it goes without saying, if you are the dread pirate roberts you got to be a little smarter than that lmao

but yea I agree its all a little over the top. I just use the remote desktop to surf, connecting from my home pc. The main reason is not to be anonymous but avoid viruses, spyware and all that kind of stuff that makes a pc unsafe to use for banking, merchant accounts etc. I am also a little noid about google tracking me when posting links and logging in/out of my small PBN. never can be too careful

its hard to hide from the govt if thats what you are trying to do. and i wish anyone who thinks they can the best of luck.
