1.start with low capital like 5-10k INR
2.you can start with paper trading also if you want
3.Invest only in the cash market as a beginner
4.Stay away from the Derivative market, you may lose money there
5.invest only in nifty 50 companies until you understand the market movements

Hi,
If you want to invest for more than 5+ years , here few of my personal picks you will get good returns
Dabur,ITC,Asian Paints,Hindustan Unilever,TCS,Infosys,HDFC Bank,Reliance
Or if you want to do swing trading you can trade private bank stocks you can hold for a few days or weeks and clear your position for profit but you need more capital to see nice numbers
