Does having whois protection on domain name protect my domain hosting company from DMCA dogs? Even if the content is hosted on "onshore" Web hosting company?

Domain names are regulated by ICANN, so you can never be sure.. There's nothing called a "DMCA bust proof" registrar. Some country specific domains are much harder to take down ( refer to sites like piratebay) but I am not sure how that is done. for the most popular extensions like .com and .net, you can be taken down if a DMCA is filed against you. No one can guarantee you anything bulletproof, even if you have whois protection.

No Whois protection is just meant to be a mask to your identity. It has no such purpose like saving you from DMCA etc.

Didn't know that. I thought ICANN involved only when some serious shit was going down like drug trade, child porn etc.

Ahha, I bet you never took IM seriously (neither the IMers ;) ).

Hmm quite evident ^_^
What I tried to mean is the fact that you can be taken down anytime no matter what. :)
I never actually worked in DMCA red zone before. New field for. Me, people do say it's lucrative.

This is practically impossible.WHOIS guard on the domain, can protect your real information from getting exposed to public, but certainly not from authorities.
