WHOIS a ranking factor?

Does anyone think that having a public WHOIS on your domain which matches your contact info is a ranking factor?

From my point of view it would make sense as it provides trust.

What do you guys think?

Only establish trust issue. Nothing related to ranking.
 
But isnt trust related to ranking?
 
Maybe as far as trust is concerned, but that the WHOIS is a ranking factor, I don't think so.

Actually, it is. There's a Google patent on that - wether or not it's weighted highly is not a question. The effect is very small to almost negligible.
 
It could be one of the ranking factors,
but it's not something that actually would make any kind of difference even for long-tail keywords,
just a super tiny part of the picture that you shouldn't really care about
 
I will say no since none of my ranking sites ever had whois privacy disabled.
 
Well, maybe a large part of the world still has whois data publicly available... In Europe new privacy laws forbid to show private data in whois... So ... even if the Google engineers want it as ranking factor... They can't really use the data...

What is the importance of Public WhoIs Data in SEO factor? Public WhoIs Data for SEO Ranking. The public whois domain gets importance and influence in Google.
 
It is very easy to register a domain for non-real data. It can't affect to ranking
 
Having public details might be a sign of trust, that you have nothing to hide imo.

Look at it this way.. You have public WHOIS which matches your contact details on your site and your Google GMB, Linkedin etc..

Would that not tell Google.. This is a trustworthy website which has nothing to hide.

To me it seems that this is a trust factor which indirectly is a ranking factor.
 
Maybe in the past, but I don't think so since the GDPR law (whois privacy has to be enable per default for european clients), and all the privacy trend

A ranking factor is a variable that a search engine uses to decide the best ordering of relevant, indexed results returned for a search query. ... Most of these pages are not particularly relevant, but this is the set that ranking factors are seeking to order.
