Who ownership is GMB listing under?

Say I go for the rank and rent method for GMB and I choose to name my listing under my chosen clients name, if we have a fallout and decide to part ways can they claim ownership of the listing?

I do want to use their address but I want to ensure after it ranks they just don't take over. I understand with seo model yes clients pay for services you've provided and all assets are theres. But if I rank the GMB and use the client to sell leads but ask them for address is the GMB mine to control or theirs if disagreements arise?

Any pointers appreciated

This is a scammy way to conduct business. If a person is paying you to set his intellectual property online, it is his intellectual property even if you have full access and control over it.
If a dispute ever arises, playing such a card is extremely malevolent and disgraceful.

Save your reputation and do things the right way. Sign a document agreement with your client. So both of you will know your responsibilities and the results/goals your customer is trying to achieve. That way, you would save yourself from such malicious intents and the legal burden.

I don't think you got the point. What i mean is i want to sell leads but its ok i don't think you understant what i was saying.
 
This question is a good question and is NOT a "scammy" way to do business.

It depends upon what is IN THE CONTRACT

If you agree to do "work for hire", then the "work" belongs to them. You are just "the help" and can be fired at will.

If they agree that they are "renting" everything you are performing, then YOU OWN THE IP and everything you do.
The you are a "consultant" and know everything in the world.

Names of companies, etc, unless trademarked, have nothing to do with this imaginary "thing"
called a GMB. Further, companies are STATE entities and are only valid in that state.

If it was me, I would never do "work for hire" unless I was desperate for funds.

I would always rent and keep the IP. Rent websites, rent social sites, rent leads generated, rent promotion.
Rent entire packages. And if the client is dumb enough to not own their domain or social accounts, then
register them and provide that free service with package.

Do what the big boys do. When you get your claws into them, deliver so much value that you become essential
to their profits and force them to never consider leaving you.

You can always sell the package it in the future.

And don't listen to newbs with 54 messages. :)

Thank you. This is what I wanted to know i dont think the other poster understood i was trying it as rent model even though i specified.

The question actually arised because i did want to perhaps use their address so its closer to their proximity and wanted to know because the address is theirs (which they agreed for me to use) in a situation of dispute will google move all my efforts to their account should 'they' try and scam me.

This is just me working on scenarios I've not yet gone to any clients, i rather double check first

Like you, I have the right to sound my subjective opinion. You might not like it and it is ok. What is not ok is your friend's arrogant approach.
And do not try to hide behind other person's bad deeds. Claiming that there are other people that do worse is just a simple fallacy.
Maybe we should compare ourselves to terrorists next? Why not. In the background of terrorists, you would look like an angel. Does it make you one? I hardly believe so.

You people forgot or never knew how to conduct a proper business. At the end of the day, it is your reputation and what you bring to the table. Be a scum and the world will treat you like one.
