Just put 4 sites up on InMotion, setup was easy. It was 4/mo. with a coupon from their site.

WordPress can run on essentially any system, but the true or dedicated WordPress hosts;

1. do not use apache. Too slow and resource intensive

2. do not use control panels.

**** cpanel/apache uses a lot of memory before the account does anything else.

3. no dns or email.

4. Nginx

5. WP help

It's a lighter system, uses less memory, and can handle a larger amount of requests.

Some of the bigger hosts that are now offering WP packages are just offering their shared packages and calling it WordPress. Host A...Host A/wp. Host B...Host B/wp.

You may wanna take a look on getflywheel or pagely. But its may not cheap though.

I like digitalocean as well. I've never tried Linode so I can't comment on that.

You can find many hosting providers who offer you cheap VPS hosting. However, I suggest you to always look for the customer feedback before going for any hosting. Apart from this before going for any hosting always look for the server uptime record and below 99% uptime is not acceptable. And it would be great if they provide you 24X4 technical support too.

Ya certainly if it cheap then its difficult to be reliable. If you want a cheap one, then you should be ready to compromise with the quality of the service.

Never ever go for shitty cheap hostings, I've tried myself a lot.
None of the $1 send my mail to inbox, all spammers were using that.
In addition, downtime was there too.
I'd suggest you to either go with digitalocean or basezap, both of them are good.
