Who makes a living doing SEO?

There are SEO specialists on this very forum who will be choking on their champagne with laughter reading some of the comments here. SEO is like any other business where some make a very good living and some do not. Some will be very good and some will not.

It sounds like Italy isn't a great place to start a fledgling business if you get hammered for 50 per cent tax. Perhaps that's partly why the country's economy is as bad as it is just now.

Where do you live that you're taxed half of your wages? o.O
That's actually true, probably. I was going to open up a business here so I can pay taxes and live normally, but they wanted me to pay in total of 44% taxes. Now I just need to keep my money offshore and use it smart so they can't figure out that I'm actually having an income. When I start making a lot more or want to buy something big (like a house or a car) I'll need to pay a visit to accountant to see what are my options, but yeah, I believe in such high tax rates in EU.

BTW just want to add up if people tell me that I'm crazy and a bad person because I'm not paying taxes. Well, in my country there is A LOT of people who owe the country millions in taxes and yet, they live free, have big houses and the government is not doing anything to collect that. Also, government is corrupt that we just can't do anything to get them down. They are also stealing big time, from their own people. That is the reason I will NOT pay 44% tax on my income and that is why I keep my income hidden and only use small amounts of that money in my country. That's when I started wondering how do all these firm here make such profits? Then, when I actually visited an accountant a few months back and he was dad of my friend so we talk like to buddies, I found out how are they making a lot of money and keeping most of the profit. Let's just say, it's blackhat haha

And sorry, I don't have anything to say on the thread. Maybe they have really low tax rates where they live or they don't pay tax?

For sure in UK I see many agencies pay good money for having an in-house expert

You can check websites like TotalJobs or Reed to have an idea.

I took 3 jobs right now ( I am the middle man and not the SEO expert) with a total profit of 300$. I had to pay 30$ for each job to be done by the guys on Seoclerks.com. I ended up with a profit of 70$ x 3.

It's not that bad in 15 days, but still far away from the target of making 300$ per week.

Thank you everybody for sharing your view.

Damn right. Id do the exact same thing. Nobody is going to be taking 50% of my earnings, that is a joke.

Well said Pankage.. Damn true.:)

Making a living off SEO is not for everyone, some of the main service providers may do but others may well just be happy with whatever they can make out of it.

I have never paid tax on IM money yet hopefully never

It's difficult to bring home the bacon with only SEO

I would recommend you take in a programming lanaguge, as PHP, which won't bite the dust inside 10 years. However, SEO, might simply kick the bucket in a couple of years, offering approach to Paid Ads and social Ads

you can yet its feasible you won't have the capacity to ,You're in an ideal situation making your own extraordinary, quality item that will have a taking after that will SEO itself!

If that's because you don't earn enough fair enough.

But if you do, you should.

Otherwise you run a risk at some point in the future of facing a hefty tax bill...

So we have some pros here, and I have a good 5-letter .com... SEOclerks competitor viable? ;)

I use to make a living with SEO but after the panda and the updates that came after that it just got so hard and unpredictable that I couldn't deal with the headaches and stresses of it all.

what exactly means "making a living with seo"? If you have an online business receiving 90% of your clients from organic search then you spend most of your time doing seo but it is just a means to an end.

also people who are really good at seo dont sell their services to others or at least not on seoclerks or fiverr.
