how can i get domaintools.com to stop displaying my domain info i bought the privacy through host gator but my info is still displayed.

I tried contacting domaintools.com directly but they sent me this email:

    Code:
    Thank you for contacting DomainTools.

All the information we display on our website is legally-mandated, public
information and easily obtainable by anyone from the web. DomainTools is only a
third party displaying this information. Historical/cached information is never
deleted from the world wide web.

WHOIS services provide public access to data on registered domain names, which
currently includes contact information for Registered Name Holders. The extent
of registration data collected at the time of registration of a domain name, and
the ways such data can be accessed, are specified in agreements established by
ICANN for domain names registered in generic top-level domains (gTLDs). For
example, ICANN requires accredited registrars to collect and provide free public
access to the name of the registered domain name and its nameservers and
registrar, the date the domain was created and when its registration expires,
and the contact information for the Registered Name Holder, the technical
    contact, and the administrative contact.

It is unfortunate that your Registrar consultant did not explain to you in
detail the privatization options that are available to everyone, when they first
register a domain on the world wide web. This would have prevented any record
that would potentially contain personal information, from ever having been
created. We understand that the records we display may contain personal data,
however WE are not responsible for that record having been created.

Going forward you can contact the ICANN registrar listed on your record for
information regarding privatization of your WHOIS record. The ICANN registrar
may be able to assist you in changing or swapping unlisted numbers or other
    private contact information.

It is not our policy to remove whois records from our database. We do, though,
understand your concern. Whois privacy services should be available from your
own registrar. Our History Block product is also an excellent tool to obscure
the history of your domain name for a limited time (e.g., during a specific
business transaction). You can purchase your History Block for your domain at
    [URL]http://www.domaintools.com/products/history-block.html[/URL]

You may also find information on how to prevent your protected images or content
from appearing on the WHOIS records page at the following link:

    Regards,

    DomainTools Client Support

Maybe it just hasn't caught up with the change yet. Give it a few days.

I've never had an issue with my domain privacy taking effect. In fact, I thought it was something immediate. Perhaps your registrar has delayed processing, so even though you added the privacy option, it doesn't take effect right away.

Is HG the only domain registrar that's been having this problem, or are there others? I was planning on grabbing a few domains today, so I hope I don't run into the same issue.

Usually you should give it a few days , max 1 week (took me 1 week once....). Check other who is services, www.who.is and see if they show your name.

Yeah that's totally true. To avoid this, you should setup whois privacy as soon as you purchase your domain.
