Adwords is the only "white hat" way ...You can still rank with directories, guest posts, PBN, 2.0s, Articles, Press releases ... Scraped content ranks too. There is no way for Google to bulk check all guest posts to figure out which are quality or not.
Matt simply opens his mouth and sits back and awaits people to repeat his shit for him, and funny enough he still has many people firing his shit talk all round the internet everyday. Just ignore what Matt says, it is not worth reading.

This makes me miss the early 2000s when you could search anything and end up discovering new websites. Sure, some of them were dubious, but this is what made the Internet fun back then! It made me feel like I was a pioneer sailing across the ocean of search results to discover a new world of unique content. These days, the same websites will come up depending on your search.
- Search for news: CNN, Cnet, Huffington Post, and other big news sites.
- Search for any consumer good: Amazon and Ebay.
- Search a question: Yahoo Answers
- Search for restaurants: Wikipedia and Yelp.
- Search for people: Wikipedia.
- Search for places: Wikipedia.
- Search for schematics on a Marx Generator: Wikipedia and Instructables.
But you know what? They are just giving common people what they want. Regular people do not care about small websites or small businesses, as long as they can get "great deals" on a well known website that everyone trusts, then everything is right in their world. People are just too apprehensive about clicking on anything that is not a well known website these days because they just assume everything is a "virus".

There is a way to if people keep using gmail and such for their SEO, a whole PBN can be taken down by simply checking gmail messages concerning that network.

Google's aim is to make it where you need to pay for adwords to even think about being on the first page almost
like auctioning off real estate. Probably is that is makes for a shitty user experience which overall is going to kill
off how many people use Google. There is a balance to the madness and Matt knows this.

If it wasnt for adsense I wouldn't give a single fu*k about google. Sadly nothing is close enough to adsense (mabye media net) theese days, ofcourse if you dont want to spend sh*tload of time to splittest for affiliate marketing.
Regarding traffic, I personally think social media traffic is way better taking the fact that #1 spot won't be forever yours and the fact that you HAVE to throw loads of money and effort. All in all we have to play by the rules of google/facebook/twitter etc.

Yes, I was thinking more on the 'quality' of the link. A blog with shitloads of outbound links and just short spammy guest post may be considered a link-farm or spam in the eyes of Google, while a guest post on a high PR authority blog will be the same as a post on a high PR blog in a private network.

When I'm searching for something now I use DuckDuckGo! Google is shit now, good for making $$ and the google dorks, that ompany became way to greedy and evil to not suffer in a near future.
And personnally I don't think that playing by the rules pays off nowadays, play by the rule if you have $$ otherwise bend them and use them at your own advantages, guest bloging is dead yeah until someone finds a solution to guest blog and kicks ass. SEO is dead anyway so....
