Google hates SEO generally when it comes with purpose.

What i mean :

We are in 2013 , google has become smarter and smarter .
Google as always trying to understand which website can help users to find the best answers and the best articles , that could help the user , who did the search find the solutions to his /her problem.
Trying to bombing google with automated methods and blackhat or greyhat SEO that would have as a result a permanent ban .
YES a permanent ban!!!!! Deindex!!!
Someone could say , its ok that is not my problem , i just need to do some cash and i am moving to the next project .
YES, BUT are you a user , who lets say a thousand dollars would make you happy ?
If yes go on with your black hat SEO technics, but if you are a webmaster that need to have an established business and want to go to the next level , NEVER do blackhat SEO .
Real SEO is not just 3 words "search engine optimisation " its the heart of search engines.
Its the reality !

Do you have to write something new ? something unique ? Just write it!
Could you give links and sources in your content that would help google to do the work ? Just do it!
Could you give google to understood that something you are saying is serious and has authority via the social media ? Just do it!
Could you give google some extra rich content such as images-videos-reviews to understand you more clear what you really want to say ? , just do it!

I am doing SEO since 1994 and that is my poor opinion .

Thanks

When i was young i was giving a shit for the phrase long term.
Creating bigger and bigger business i understood that ..OOPsss here is what they were saying for big money !

Couldn't agree with you more.
Just that now seems like the SEO game is turning harder and harder, i now starting to doubt what can be defined to be actual whitehat and what is blackhat.
Manual and high quality links can sometime defined as unnatural links too, what we can do is actually getting narrower and narrower :(

For me Blackhat. If done correctly Blackhat can also yield long term results.

Well blackhat methods generally provide a much quicker rate of success (if they are successful at all!), however sites populated through blackhat methods typically run the risk of being hit by search engines. There are clear benefits for both methods, however I believe spending a bit more effort and using whitehat methods is the way to go and it always will be! Better to be safe and secure than constantly worrying about being hit in my opinion, although there are people who will argue both ways regardless!

WhіteHаt SEO = Slоw, mаnual, lоng term, gеts bеtter wіth еvеry Google chаnges, lеѕѕ chаnces оf gеttіng bаnned/deіndеxed іn Google
(thеir lіnks аrе uѕuаlly lеѕѕer, thіnk оf hundrеds, fоr еxаmple)

BlackHat SEO = "Fаѕt" (іn terms оf buildіng lіnks), autоmаted (sоftwаrе, mоrе lіkе spаm/blаѕt іf uѕed іnсоrrеctly), vеrу lіkеly tо suffer frоm еvеry Google algоrіthm chаnge, јuѕt lооk аt ArticleMarkеtіngRobot whіch hаѕ a PR0 dеѕріtе thouѕаnds аnd thouѕаnds оf lіnks!
(thеse lіnks аrе uѕuаlly іn thе thouѕаnds due tо thе spаmmіng nаturе оf BlueFart SEO)

Black hat for event sites, disposable sites., and fireships.

White for adsence, and business sites.

No SEO for paid traffic sites.

White or black hat, you will always be under the jurisdiction of Google, the leading search engine powerhouse.

Blackhat = Insta result, No guarantee for future rankings.
Whitehat = Slow, Safe future.

WhiteHat looks more natural.

Thank you

Stopped reading at that point dude. Let's be clear: That is most certainly not Google's business model.

In fact, the border between White and Black Hat is somewhat a blur.
Is manual blog commenting a white hat? No, because you create links "on purpose" instead of following Google TOS which is to provide a good content, so that OTHER PEOPLE link to you.
So, the question will be, what technique is black hat? And what technique is white hat?

And if we do automate white hat techniques (say, we automate blog commenting, use spun comments) is that considered a black hat?
If we automate placing social bookmarks, writing articles on wiki, is that considered a black hat, or a white hat?
Who is to blame, the technique, or the method to do that technique?

There's no black and white SEO. Today's white may be tommorow's black.
It's time to stop seeing Google as "do no evil", because they clearly support the big brasses who have tons of money to pay for extensive GoogleAdwords.
And yeah, providing the best website to users to find the best articles, is clearly not Google's business model.

Google's business model is the same like yours or my business model.
PROFIT.

Its always smart to be balanced.

Whitehat is what you should build and gear your resources to imo. Blackhat is often needed to get you started though.
Blackhat gives you a lot of quick wins.

So either way there is money on the table. I cant say go for one or another since you go for whatever has the most value to you. If youve done all you can for the day on your whitehat project then put some time in and get some money off the table with blackhat. If you have big longterm opportunities with WH then dont jump on the short term cash of BH.

Just an example but its a mix you need to constantly be calculating what is most worth your time.

Gluck

First use blackhat techniques, make some money-> invest in white hat projects = win

Blackhat is faster, more powerful and can be long term as white hat.
