I wanted to start this thread to talk about promoting YouTube videos without resorting to paid views, sub's, etc.

What have you done in the past to legitimately garner traffic? I have been using Reddit and Facebook groups and pages with moderate success. Newest video has received close to 1000 views in less than 24 hours as a result.

Just want to get more ideas.

Out of curiosity did you get 1k views only by reddit and facebook? I'm thinking about making a Facebook page for my youtube channel, and if it's really working I think it would be a good idea to try it out, only using reddit and twitter at the moment.

I once took a shot in the wind and sent a really bad video of two cars drag racing to the carbuzz website. They actually posted an article on it and I received 13,000 views in two days and got 25% more subs.

Yeah, I only used reddit and Facebook groups. I think that on top of the better quality of the video really helped out. Find as many groups and pages in your niche as you can and post. Usually you won't have a problem posting, and you can like and follow those pages and post stuff redularly.

I'm surprised it worked as well as it did.
