White hat method's help. :)

Hi guys,

A client which im building a site for has requested me to handle ongoing SEO for them which I accepte do. I have good knowledge in black hat methods which I have used previously in my own niche sites. But as being a client I want to do this completely White Hat. The site will have onsite SEO done on it with a blog section with an article added weekly or so featuring 1 - 3 of their keywords.

My question is; What other forms of White Hat would be useful? and what are they as well as how many keywords would you suggest for this?

There's no such thing as "White hat SEO". It's just a fancy little phrase that was conjured up to sell services to noobs. All SEO is Blackhat - Just don't get caught.

White Hat doesn't work anymore. Plus why do that when you can be smart about being Black hat?, be careful with tier 1 and be in total control of it then you'll pretty much be safe.

whatever you do be honest and upfront with the client and get sucked into doing risky things just to have something to "show".

If you are looking for long term relationship than try to work like it. Respect the client and he/she will respect you.
Its easy to rank up quickly with blackhat but very hard to recover if caught and dropped. Try recovering your rep with the client.

I suggest you start by explaining to him/her that SEO is dynamic and you are keeping on top of newest development in the industry as well as taking his/her business very serious. Explain that everything you do will be done with best intentions but that there are no ranking guarantees due to the nature of the industry etc.

As far as specifics go it is hard to say. That will depend on your time allocation, the budget and expectations. As a rule of thumb you can always look at some big boys SEO like hubshout and others. You can stick to the basic 1,2,3 semantic keywords per super quality content/page with basic onpage and links from just few social sites like fb, twitter, yt and 2-3 industry specific.

White hat SEO is primarily onsite, optimizing your page titles, meta tags, h tags, canonical url tags, writing quality content, + building white hat backlinks manually, rss feed, submitting your sitemap . I really disagree with anyone who says white hat is dead or not useful or doesn't exist. If you haven't done your white hat optimization, then your (black hat) link blasts etc.. are going to be far less effective. Quality before quantity..

Going White Hat means investing in 3 things: SEO, Content Marketing, and Social Media. PPC is optional.

1.) SEO - make sure you have optimized pages but not over-optimized as G will penalize you for it. There are lots of resource available for recommended on-page and off-page seo in seomoz's site.

2.) Content marketing - this is your primary weapon for going white hat - creation and promotion of rich, usable, mesmerizing content that would make people want to visit your site.

3.) Social Media - This is your most valuable asset to be able to listen to what your audience is talking about so you can create content that suits their interest.

that's correct. white hat is just a slower usually more buffered approach to seo. really search engines consider and type of seo as blackhat
