What are some legit ways to grow an actually brand?
Follow-unfollow looks desperate for big brands( as do all the other shady tagging etc)
apart from ads what are some ways to actually grow big on Instagram?

White-hat ?
Shout-outs, Quality content, connect with the community (likes, comments, respond to comments, respond to DM, DM some people who you find interesting), giveaways, live sessions, real-life events

Content, content, content.

That's how I end up following Nike and GE. They were featured in Forbes as one of the best IG accounts (A few years ago).

So, make sure you create great content. And in time, you will get followers and others will talk about your account.

Great ideas.

But ads are really expensive as Instagram does not have a direct ‘follow’ option for ad objectives.

Any suggestions?

If ads were "really expensive" then people wouldn't buy them.
If you're not able to generate value out of the ad spent, that's something else.
And with your limited knowledge about Instagram in general, I don't understand why you wanna go for this and not something else.
Making a big Instagram without using auto follower/unfollower is very hard work. The first 10-20k is the "hardest" to get.

I agree with this, I'm now getting 30-50 followers/day with 3€ per day. Not the best result but I'm an eCommerce and followers coming in are just wow. This result cost me a bunch of money in testing. Test Test Test

I run an influencer agency for brands and thats actually quite good IF you can remarket to them.

Of course i can, i've fb pixel and all setted up :D

I did not mean just remarket to on fb i meant through your posts / get their emails etc. Basically get them to take some form of actionable engagement.

You have step 1 in a campaign you need to build out the funnel.

I wrote that I have an eCommerce, I collect email (and also mobile numbers) 'cause they have to register, also incentivized newsletter, all set up and running well

contact influencer in the same niche with you and try to make them endorse your brand (you need investment)
posting aesthetic pics
giveaways
posting frequently your content

To get more followers on Instagram do the following things:

- Promote your dedicated hashtag on your other social profiles, on your website, and your email blast.
- Get creative with your hashtags.
- Watch topically relevant and trending hashtags.
- Use your bio link to drive traffic to your newest or most popular content.

My friend you want to build a "real brand" but $3-$4 CPM is to expensive? My friend building a brand takes time and funding along with a product or service that exceeds quality of your competition. Organic reach and growth especially on IG is not existent for a far majority of people. Best of luck
