While browsing Reddit over the past few weeks, something caught my attention.

Older accounts seem to be getting more engagement even it the content is similar to what newer accounts are posting. Not sure if that is due to account age, karma, trust or just having a longer activity history.

Do you notice the same thing if you use Reddit regularly? Is the age of the account really important or is it more of choosing the right subreddit and time to post and the quality of the post?

Would be interested to hear what other have seen.

I've had fresh accounts drop objectively better posts and still get cooked by older accounts with mediocre content just because they already had trust in that sub

I think account age helps a bit with trust, but the right subreddit, timing and a good post usually make a much bigger difference.

Social media algorithm in general favours old account. Old account have more trust
