Hey, im going to try mini niches and also intending to make a bigger site but similar to the mini niches but its just so much that should be at the same place.

Read that hostgator is really good at several places so i think i should use that. Also read that free sites is bad so i suppose i should pay for it.

If i buy hosting at hostgator, which should i choose?
    Code:
    http://www.hostgator.com/
    Reseller Hosting
Seems to give more than VPS Hosting gives, both possible to sell my unused space, although i dont plan that, more space, same speed, unlimited domain names, email accounts and other features.

    VPS Hosting
Seem to be less for the money but that seems strange.
    Domain Ownership

    Register ($15)
Cost to get a domain name with this even though it seem to give the same?
    IP Addresses

    2 4 8 16 32
    Also limited?
    cPanel also cost more.
This option seem really bad becouse of these things, and since its:
50GB space 500GB bandwidth for 25$ for Reseller hosting
    compared to
30GB space 500GB bandwidth for 40$ with VPS hosting.

Am i just misunderstanding something or is the first offer alot better and does it really allow me to host my own site? (should be possible to "sell space for free" to myself)

    Anything else?

I would go for reseller. You can split up your reseller account nicely into accounts that fit your small and big sites.

The reason why some people chose for VPS is because with a VPS you have root access. You can log in on that VPS and you can install applications and things that you like, like you would install stuff on your computer.

With VPS you also have multiple accounts that run on 1 physical server, but a lot less than you have with reseller.

If you have no need for special applications to be run or anything, or you're just not that experienced with it all, just go for reseller.

    Ok, thank you.
Im not sure what i need, but the things im intending to make is:

Niche sites with adsence, amazon affilate and similar things.

Considering making sites for pornographic content, not sure if its allowed. I just read the TOS and i didnt find porn, sexual, ex (however the word explit is spelled) or any other similar word, except for the normal "no cp" that every site got in their TOS.
Wonder if lolicon is allowed though, its always hard know if it is or not unless they state no fictional.
Those sites would just have links to hotfile and a certain page to get money for signups and some advertisement.

Maybe some money maker sites also.

Is it possible to upgrade from cheapest reseller to a more expensive after buying it? It said its possible on VPS but didnt say anything on reseller.

What should i put as my domain registration?
    Should it be:
    whatiwanthosttobecalled.com
    or
    niche.com
Got a good niche name, dont want to put it if i get a host site of it.
But since it cost 15$ for domain name i dont want to put the host name since i wont really use it for hosting unless i decide to do that aswell later.

And how will my site work? Do i make a site like:
    niche.whatiwanthosttobecalled.com
And have to buy domain name on it to change name to:
    niche.com
    So it is:
montly fee + 15$ for host domain name + 15$ / domain name?
    or is it just:
montly fee + 15$ for host domain name?

The reseller account is for people who want to sell hosting - all you need is the baby hosting plan (not reseller); unlimited bandwidth and domains for $9.95 a month, you certainly do not need a VPS yet.

    True, thank you.

Btw, is it anyway to get around the 15$ cost for each domain name?
It probably isnt so bad, its just 15$ initial cost so after a few days the cost will be cowered by that domain.

But that is how you do it right? Pay 15$ for each domain name you get when you launch an additional niche site?

    Thats not true.

I dont' use hostgator, but it doesn't matter what host your using, if you plan to be setting up more than just a few domains then the reseller plan is the way to go. Reseller account is for anyone that plans to be setting up a lot of domains. It doesn't matter if you are reselling or not.

I have so many domains that if I were to pay for the babyhosting plan it would cost me a fortune. By paying for a reseller account it allows me to just set up a new domain and host it on my reseller account.

Just figure out how many baby plans it would take to equal the same price as the reseller account. If you plan to have more domains than that then you should go with the reseller account. And remember as you learn more you will probably start setting up more domains jsut because you'll keep having more ideas.

edit - @Byite - I just reread your post and it looks like your saying the baby plan has unlimited domains. I guess I need to backpedal on my reply now. :) If hostgator does that then your right. My host just has either small domain plans or a reseller account.

So for the OP, just be sure that what you get will allow you the unlimited domains, etc. You will need that. And for sure shared hosting will be good enough for now. You won't need VPS for awhile with what your planning, if ever.

Hm, so which should i choose?

Why would it cost a fortune?

    Baby:
    UNLIMITED Domains
    UNLIMITED Disk Space
    UNLIMITED Bandwidth
    Shared SSL Certificate

    Reseller:
    Disk Space

    50 GB

    Bandwidth

    500 GB

    <LI style="BORDER-RIGHT-STYLE: none">Domains

    UNLIMITED

Is it not true that its unlimited when they say it is? Which one suits best? Right now i got no domains but intend to make many.

And does it work good to buy reseller and create sub domains on it and still rank high on google? Or does the chance of ranking get reduce becouse its a subdomain so i need to pay for domain name for each niche?
    niche1.resellername.com compared to niche1.com
If it doesnt reduce chance to get ranked good it would save like 30-60$ / week for new niche names? But probably bad to have that kind of name.

I dont like when people ask me to pm them btw, its like "that person dont know how it works yet so i take advantage of it".

Well when I first set up my hosting plan, I went ahead and registered a name just for the hosting. I never planned on reselling, but did it just in case I decide to sometime. For one thing if you ever get into site flipping, you can sell hosting from you along with the site. Maybe you never will but a domain name doesn't cost much.

So my suggestion is to get one domain like exampledomainhost.com and then your first niche site would be niche1.com, next would be niche2.com, etc. you will set up a new account under your reseller account each time you set up a new domain.
This lets you have exampledomainhost.com as the main name in your account and then all other accounts will be set up under that. I just like it that way better even though it takes an extra domain name, and then if you do decide to resell hosting you can set up the exampledomainhost.com with a page promoting it. If you don't then just set up some generic page.

As far as doing things like
    niche.whatiwanthosttobecalled.com
that is a subdomain. There are times to do that, but I'd say to only do it when the subdomain is directly related to the main domain. Otherwise, why not just register a new domain and set up another account under your reseller account each time.

Also, you don't have to register the domains from the host you are using. In fact I recommend not doing that. If you ever decide to go to a different host, you could end up having problems.

$15 for a .com seems a little pricey for the domains, unless your picking a premium domain name. Most of my .com only cost about $8 - $10, and cheaper domains like .info can be had for a buck or two each.

I use name.com to register domains, they're pretty reasonably priced and its easy to change the nameservers to point to where you're hosting the domains. There's many other registrars as well, you can do a search to find other threads where people recommend several.

Yeah I saw that the baby is for unlimited domains after I made that other post. Just make sure it is unlimited domains, and not unlimited subdomains. There is a difference. With my host, they just have individual hosting plans, which come with unlimited subdomains. Or they have reseller accounts that come with unlimited domains. So from my host I needed to go with the reseller plan.

So anyway make sure that you are getting unlimited domains and you will be fine.

As far as the unlimited bandwidth, the answer is no not really but it doesn't matter. A few years ago they just decided it was worth it to stop metering the bandwidth for accounts. They won't charge you for going over an alloted bandwidth, but if your site becomes successful enough that you are hogging their resources, they will tell you that you've outgrown the shared hosting plan and need to move up. You probably won't need to worry about that for awhile, if ever.
