Which VIRTUAL MACHINE do you use?

Vmware is the best virtual machine software I have used.

Vmware Workstation is NOT free.
Vmware Player IS free.

Differences are that workstation allows you to create virtual machines from scratch (install OS, etc.) where as vmware player will only allow you to open pre-created vmware virtual machine images.

hey... just wondering... for backing up a VM... can I just copy that whole file of the OS... and if need be, just delete the bad one and use the backup one.... or is there more to it then that. If so, please explain.

In VMware you can just copy the folder (where you installed the virtual machine) and that is it. The folder will contain the disk files (.vmdk) and various config files .vmk, .vmss, etc. Move it to another PC and on 1st boot up it will ask if you moved or copied it (safest to just click copied) and that is it.

Or as you want, you can just delete your bad one and copy the backup folder in it's place.

For other vm software I can't remember the exact files but in essence the process is the same for any vm software, copy the disk files and config files from the folder where it is installed.
