Want to rank in a short time? The only guaranteed way that I know of is to go with a low competition keyword or spend big bucks on Adwords. Otherwise, traditional SEO can take months or ages to rank depending on your keyword difficulty.

I ranked a brand new spanking blogspot blog for a few terms on page 1 within 2-3 weeks ish. Obviously very low to no competition (lots of meme phrases). Just did the basic steps such as webmaster tools, sitemap, pinging, submitting to search engines etc.

I was also autoposting, and did all the posts within 2 days and left the site without any updates.

Don't listen to any myths, just test yourself and see.

Myths or not, Keyword with difficulty 10+ will need more than a month to hit #1 for long time. But who knows.. the recent G algos changed the game of SEO again

There are no such SEO techniques, which can help you to improve the ranking within a month. SEO if done by following Google guidelines will give you results after some time, if you want immediate results you will have to follow Black Hat technique, but it can affect the ranking and traffic of the website.

If you need them there in a month PPC is your answer, not a SEO method.
