Let's say that our keywords are "movie trailer"

Is a good idea to register domain like this:

movie-trailerZ.com

Or you would register something like

the-movie-trailer.com or such?

I'd prefer the first option but without the hyphen. Have seen many websites doing this.
 
Are you targeting Search Engine traffic more, or trying to build a brand name and get visitors to type in your name more? For search engines, I would choose the 2nd option, for type in brand name, I would choose the first.
 
I tought about it and I will choose the second option.
I'm targeting SEO.

From what i have learned - in the url are a bad idea, but saying that i have a website with two of the in and it does well.

If you have a choice between the two, hyphen in name is better than number in name.
 
Agreed, but if you have to choose between a name with a hypen and a name with a digit, I find the hyphen preferable. That's the point I was trying to make.
 
I could do it without number or hyphen but there is already a themovietrailer.com (with fresh Joomla installed, nothing added) so mine would be themovietrailer.net

I'm really confused now :D

Movietrailerz.com is also not available? If it is, then there's no point in choosing movie-trailerz.com over movietrailerz.com.
 
To make everything clear:

I want to have domain with "movie trailer" keywords.

The best one would be: themovietrailer.com
However it's already registered (with a fresh CMS, no content at all).

So my choice would be probably themovietrailer.net

What you think about this?
 
How about using some other word instead of "the". Something like best, new, famous or anything similar?
 
I like the second one. Of course, it's always nice to not have to have the hyphen, but if your gonna have one you might as well have both of them in there: the-movie-trailer, it works

I'd avoid it at all costs.
 
I agree - and no one remembers hyphens. Its better to get creative and add something like 'review' 'box' 'central' or something to your keywords in my opinion. I just use a thesaurus
