Which one is the Effective Backlink ?

I need views from you guys and probably more useful info on backlinking.
There are different forms of backlinking.Blog comments,web 2.0,profile links,article directory submission,directory submission..etc
which in turn has different variations like high pr,.edu links which make difference.

I know they all are effective.But still need your views and advice, of these all which form of backlinking is more effective and can immediately bring changes in your rankings ( changes means higher not lower )

I think Diversity and working on all quality links help .

There really is no magic bullet or answer to this...

We do massive levels of empirical testing on all back link building types, and I've yet to see any concrete proof that any type of back link is better than another. What matters is the locality/domain of the link source, the authority of that site, the number of OBL's from that page and site, the IP neighbourhood (can be beneficial or negative), the anchor text used, The number and proliferation of links from that domain/IP to your page and domain, and a bunch of other random uncontrollable effects.

All we can do is built maximum variety, diversity and volume - with a close eye on avoiding over-optimisation on newer domains, particularly if they're EMD's

I think like a few of the guys said that link diversity is great, but i have alot of success with high pr profile links...
You then need to do a few more things to get those links to work for you, like link juice for example....

thank you guys for your valuable inputs..i wonder have anyone experimented each type of backlink with other type as how effective they are. Yep its true mixture of backlink works well and the keyword which we use is important and many other factors do play a role in ranking.

Web 2.0's are definitively the strongest at the moment, I've ranked for keywords over 74k exact match using the following strategy:

money site <--- 50 web 2.0s <--- 1000 web 2.0s

Everyone says link diversity is important but I seem to be ranking better just blasting web 2.0s with senuke 24/7
