which one is easier to transfer sites-cpanel or Plesk?

I was wondering if it is easier to transfer sites from one Plesk hosting to another?

If yes, whats the best way to do it?

What kind of sites, Wordpress? If so I'd just use the updraft plugin awesome and quick for most moves.
 
if you are using WordPress, use Duplicator plugin, its the easiest way
 
From cpanel to cpanel would be easier, you just move the database and restore the website.

Or in case it's a wordpress website, use All in One Migration plugin.
 
Not sure about plesk as I don't use it. But from my experience cPanel is a walk in the park. And to add on to what the other users said above if it's wordpress and you transfer to a new domain download search and replace plugin and it will fix all your links.
 
Zip all files.Download the Zip. Export all databases.

Upload the zip, Extract the files, Import all databases.

Same procedure everywhere. Even if its via command line ;)

And you can do server to server file transfer if you have gigs of data to be transferred, you know.

Yes wordpress sites but having large data like 15-40 GB. I tried backbuddy in the past but had loads of problems and errors. Not sure about upward or Duplicator plugin. At the moment my programmer is transferring one of my site from Cpanel hosting to Plesk hosting and it took him 2 days he is still not finished yet. Site size is about 17 GB but he is struggling. He is transferring using old fashioned way i.e via FTP

He is saying as hosting speed is slow(about 500 kbps), it's taking lot of time to finish.

I am not sure what to do now. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Just give a try with duplicator plugin i am sure it will work 100%.

Okay thanks, I will try it out-is it free or paid? And what do you think how long will it take to finish the transfer considering less speed of hosting?

Ah yeah those are pretty big that would likely take longer with updraft as it breaks it into chunks and then tries to send it over. Honestly I'd archive it all up in plesk/cpanel and manually export the database that seems the fastest way to me.

If you do updraft instead of it remotely sending you can download each of the files (plugins etc.) but I'd assume for most/all plugins the scripts will likely timeout before that.

Plesk as well as Cpanel have backup options but don't have any comparison how good the compression is, but given the backup/restore in the panel it should save some time (backup, download file and reupload it).

Based on your file sizes dont use plugins will just fail or take forever
- Use backup function in panel
- Manually zip/tar files and do it that way

Wow 2 days ? lol that`s way to much time.

If the hosting speed is low, than you can make a manual backup and ask your hosting provider to upload the backup for you directly to your other server or any other file upload services from where you can download it faster.
Since they own the servers they can transfer the file directly with much larger speed from server to server than what you get directly from Cpanel.

Its free, and it will create a compressed package, you can download with idm, your site is 17 GB after compression i think package size will be around 5-6 GB and may be it is downloaded in 1 hour with IDM
 
for me I like cpanel way better. But I guess if someone used Plesk all the time they could say that one is better, but for me hands down cpanel.
 
cPanel is a way to go, user friendly panel and if you need support even cpanel give you basic support.
 
1. zip all the files on your cpanel or plesk.
2. add cron to your new panel (host). Cron should be like: wget http://example.com/fullbackup.zip
3. make backup from your db.
4. once zip is downloaded to your new host unpack it.
5. create database and import your db.
6.done.

This is the easiest way. Hosting support is using this type of transfers when they transfer your website.
 
If your website in WordPress CMS so, there are two ways to transfer your website a new hosting.

1. Manually
a. At first log in your C-panel and select a specific database and make it a zip file.
b. Now download these database zip files and upload your new hosting as Cpanel and unzip files
c. Install new WP connecting this database on your new Cpanel
d. Now time to install your previous theme and plugins on the new WP dashboard.
e. If everything is good so your site successful in running your new hosing.

2. Automatically
If you want to do complete the task automatically so you can use most popular migration plugin called "All in One WP Migration " or "Duplicator"
