hi,
I have been trying to find the information about which one is considered better for serp resukts a .com site or a .ws site. Ofcourse, considering the same domain name , same SEO work and the same content...

I will appereciate your help

It's .com unless you re targetting the Independent State of Samoa

I thought .ws was just Global Domains International and their expensive-assed $10/month hosting for one domain.

Haveyou ever seen a ws ranked at google?

There's a difference between gTLD (general Top Level Domain) and ccTLD (country code Top level domain.

.com, .net, .org are gTLDs, so, picking any of them will rank you pretty much the same.

.cc, .ws, .it is a ccTLD, so although extremely easy to rank high on each country google searches, it can be a pain in the ass to rank high in google.com.

And yes, I've seen ccTLD ranking high... examples: warez.bb, katz.cd or pown.it.

Some ccTLD like co.uk and .au can rank well also. .com domais usually rank better because the owners put more effort into promoting the site. For direct traffic, nothing can beat .com domains though.

Always go with the .com. Its trusted by the people.

When it comes to SEO, I believe that content is the king.. for long term :D

Without any concrete evidence to prove it, consensus is .com is best. If you are going to flip the site a buyer would be happier with a .com. Also if you are selling something .com seems to have more respect.

As noted, gTLDs are the way to go when you can. ccTLDs are usually used for branding and country-specific sites and such. If you're going to get one, get a .US.

If you're stuck with one, geo-location factors are important; make sure your host is on a US IP and things of that nature. Drive traffic and build links from US sources, and do what you can to show the Big G you're a US site targeting a US audience.
