Which one do you prefer?

So I'm trying to style the homepage of my website. I have 2 designs, and need some opinions.

Here are 2 screenshots of my homepage:

Do you prefer the first pic, the second, or none?

And if it's none, then please say why and what do you think I should do?

I prefer the second one. The box shadow and background on the first one just looks ugly where the second one is a more modern flat design.

The title text above content sections doesn't sit well with me.
I would remove the underline, italic and keep it flat with a bold font.

I'm no designer, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.
 
Definitely the second design. The second design has a very clean look to it, unlike the first design where it has generic CSS rounding and border styles applied to the boxes on a grey background.

I worked long and hard yesterday and created something in-between the two designs above, and also added a blog posts slider widget, as you will see below. Check the following two:

I like the new design, and I think it's a bit different and unique. There's only one thing I can't decide. In the first photo you see the blog post widget has one background, while in the second photo it has a different background.

Which one do you prefer?


p.s that slider switches posts automatically, so it makes the homepage there responsive. I like it :)

You took 1 step forward and 3 steps backwards with that design. If I had to pick a design, I would say, "1, but only if the grey background is removed".

I really liked the original second design; it had an organised look to it and it made me feel like I was looking at a trustworthy website; the kind of trustworthy website that says, "Hey, don't be afraid, come on in and look at our stock". It's the kind of website, Scorpion Ghost, that has the modern look that teens crave but with the welcoming feeling of a mom and pop shop. You had a good thing going there, Scorpion Ghost, and it looked like it would've been great, too.

I made a few more small adjustments and changed that background photo of that slider widget to something simpler and more elegant, I'd say.

I'll leave it like that for now, and eventually, of course, I can change it again...


Well, after two months working on this site, I'm finally reaching a point where I am content with everything and I can soon start promoting the site. I can't wait to start promoting it. I have no money to invest, but I have 24 hours per day free, and knowledge, and BlackHatWorld ;)


If anyone has any suggestions feel free to throw them at me. :)

All right, that looks fine to me. The borders surrounding the body content are subtle, but noticeable enough to let you know that the content is separate.

Yes. That's Exactly what I did. Subtle, but noticeable. It was a bit too "flashy" before. :)

Now, to make a better alternative to fiverr... and one more thing...

Second one is better but still far from being great.
 
The second one, without any doubt.

It looks more professional, better overall. Go with that. The first design looks outdated.
 
second bro, the first one looks amazing -> 10 years ago.
