When looking for expired domains Majestic CF & TF, the www & non-www show different values. So which of these should I consider www or non-www?

Both are important, but you can focus on either www. or non-www. depending what your domain redirects to. If your site opens with www., then focus on that. Regardless, if you build links for either one, link juice will still be passed on so don't get discouraged.

Don't look at metrics as numbers only. Look at majestic flow profile, it's important that domain has as many high TF links as possible, if it doesn't have at least 5 TF10+ backlinks, it's not worth the registration price.

Neither. Choose ROOT DOMAIN and consider that value. You are interested if Google trusts the domain, not any particular URL as a single unit.

Stop with the metrics, they are just an indication TF is harder to fool then DA (which is useless) but can still be fooled are be incorrect, you should always, always, always check the backlinks, that is really the only metric for me that makes or breaks a domain, be it for purchasing or links.

True, easiest way to check the quality of backlinks is checking the majestic flow first, if it has good flow - many high TF backlinks, then in almost all cases (provided it's not spammed, has good history etc) that's the indicator of a quality websites.

Yes, there is a correspondence between backlinks and the metrics that you see, but I wouldn't rely on those metrics alone. See it more as an overview. To be sure of the reputation of a website, look at the backlinks. As FC-DH said, you can manipulate it.

Thank you all for your valuable suggestions. So it's backlinks that I should check apart from the metrics, since metrics can be manipulated.

Consider both and use whichever is best.
