Which method should I stick with? My newbie story

You might want to try something else as it seems like you aren't making much money right now. In my opinion the easiest place to start is either through a niche blog (which you've tried) or dropshipping, maybe you should consider giving the latter a shot.

I think you had a good thing going on with that blog (I'd like to know what exactly you did to get that many visitors on a wordpress.com site). By your own domain and hosting, preferably the same name as the wordpress.com one and transfer your site over (remember to redirect the old traffic to your new domain). Then simply build up the traffic again and put more ads on the site also the occasional cpa offer.
I tried the whole wordpress transfer thing but I ended up creating an entirely new site, this site looks pretty good but I've found it hard to maintain traffic and an interest in writing so gave up on that too. I was worrying about transferring my original blog over as I didn't really know what I was doing and I lost interest after a while so maybe I'll look in to it again. I got most of my traffic by posting to N4G as they allow sites with semi-decent content to be published on there and I seem to have return visitors even now. A lot of traffic was from commenting on other blogs etc. My 10 reasons to own an xbox one post had around 20,000 views and still gets views but I didn't monetize this as I should of done.
