You can use ICQ, skype, gmail, facebook, yahoo . I think all of them are very good, but I prefer skype because it can save your conversation in long time and you will recognize them easily when you review conversation.

skype kicked ass using an autoresponder, not anymore though, they're banning the accs like there's no tomorrow since a few months now, but i guess if you have something legit to promote and doing it by hand, it still can be good
i'm not doing anything like this lately, but if i were to, i'd use a kik autoresponder or maybe whatsapp, mobile where it's at now
