Definitely would pick the first one.

I would actually combine both of them.
The first one has the GD on the left that is perfect for a favicon. It will shrink well and become recognizable in the favicon location on tabs.
But the second one has a tagline and is more memorable, in my opinion. Combine them and you'd come up with the perfect logo.

I like the first one, it is clean and looks good.
I prefer the first one as well, it looks much more modern - whereas the second one looks more old school and dated. Also I think the first one would scale to a variety of smaller sizes more successfully than the second one. Plus when I think of "gadget's" these days, I would prefer to see more modern devices - laptops have been around for decades.
A third option would be that you could possibly work the first logo into a "shield" shape as well, that might look good too.

Go with the #1 it's way better! Other one is good like a idea but it seem incomplete...
