Keyword A

Google's SERP dominated with low/medium DA sites (DA 10 to 40), but pages are highly optimized, Keyword A appears on title, url, H1...

Keyword B
Google's SERP dominated with medium/high DA sites (DA 40 to 70), but pages are not optimized, Keyword B does not appear on title, url, H1...

Which keyword would more difficult to rank?

For keyword A you have some chance of beating your competition with the same level of content, site structure and topical authority, but more and better links.

For keyword B I don't know what you can do to outrank those high authority sites as google loves power, money and authority, and as soon as they find it they hold onto it for their dear life.

Personally I think keyword B is more difficult

If keyword B is not dedicated to only the niche of that keyword (but just touches that niche with a page built, as u say unoptimized) then keyword B would be easier to target

Going by how Google has been acting lately with regards to updates, keyword B would be difficult because it seems authority is much more prioritized over anytime else.

You may want to take your chance with keyword A. Optimize your site better than theirs and acquire some links see where it goes from there.

Compared with Keyword A, Keyword B would be more difficult to rank.

I think keyword B will be more difficult to in the term of Keyword A.

Am I the only one who thinks Keyword B will be easy.
Since they aren't optimized. Google is only prioritizing them because of the authority which you can overcome with Good backlink strategy and a good studied on page optimization. (I might be wrong)

If keyword B is not dedicated to only the niche

If you went with B and took their spot, they'd most likely optimize to target that keyword, and once that is done, they'll easily reclaim their spot.

Also, the niche is very important.

Keyword A might be tougher to rank for because even smaller sites are optimizing heavily for it. Keyword B might still be tricky due to bigger competition, but their lack of optimization gives some room for others to compete.

Definitely Keywords A that works better and improves over all results faster than Keyword B.

Keyword B is challenging to rank for due to both the strong competition from sites with higher DA and the lack of optimization on these sites to effectively compete against them.

Not only you but many of here accept this buddy.

knowledge comes from experience, I agree with you because we did outrank the authority sites with well-optimized quality content and good backlinks.

You have to look at what kind of high DA sites are ranking there, If they are not narrowly focused sites, they have no thematic authority, they are ranked only by the ranking of the domain itself.
If you create a narrowly focused site on this word, you will get thematic weight, and universal sites will not be able to compete with you, you will immediately become above them, without links, without everything - at once.

But you must create a good narrowly focused site, not a piece of shit.

Recently in my group I was asked just a similar query, and I showed examples in two niches, that there all the monsters (Forbes and others) are ranked lower than 2 simple small sites for all queries of this niche. These sites were professionally created for this single narrow section. After them, Forbes was already in third place for all queries. These sites have only a few backlinks each, and there is no DA or DR nothing, but a professionally created site and content.

I prefer Keywords B are more challenging to rank in SERP. The higher DA needs authority sites, where optimization is lacking and puts a disadvantage in ranking a keyword.

For keywords A, DA with low/medium sites highly optimized and signals Google to rank a keyword.

At the same time, we have to remember that ranking difficulty depends on multiple factors like competition, content quality, backlinks, and user intent.

Keyword B would be more difficult to rank . Competition having higher DA the lack of optimization for Keyword B indicates a potential gap between the search query and the content on these pages.

Lets take my example. I had a real estate classfieds sites in my local area. I had all the backlinks and stuff set up, but somehow, websites with 5-6 backlinks from spam directories, outrandked me. All because they had been established websites with 50-100k monthly branded traffic, and I had 0. But I had "backlinks: and DA, duh.... If users already visit those low DA sites you talk about, without traffic it will be difficult for you to climb into that niche
