I suggest that you should learn SEO and build natural link. Its beneficial forever otherwise you can hire SEO executive.

For anyone advising manual over any type of software are just misinformed. While obviously manual allows you to post in some places that software cannot and that it is slower so some may feel somehow safer there is one thing that most people always forget about and that is footprints.
When doing things manually most will neglect the small details because of how slow and laborious it all is so they may re-use the same keywords, tags, articles, anchor texts. They may use a similar set of usernames, or even worse the same usernames, across all sites. They may even only use one or two pages on their site to promote.
Most good automated tools will have things in place to prevent most or all of these things and because of that I can wholeheartedly state that manual is definitely not always better, especially for those that do not understand how easy it is to leave a footprint these days and how often it happens.

If you do it manually then you'll have better results, but anyway I would recommend GSA.

Agree with you. But auto backlink is also effective to get high PR. Although there is a chance of getting penalty.

I use GSA for my link building campaigns. Previously I was using Scrapebox, Senuke & Magic Submitter until I decided to automate my link building needs & focus on other techniques on getting traffic instead of 100% relying on the search engines.

The best and most efficient software ever made is ZennoPoster, but:
Minuses:
1. You need to learn how to make bots (not so difficult, but you need 1 month of training to get experience).
2. You need to find niche platforms (blogs, web 2.0 etc) and create customs bots for each which is fast when you have experience, but still takes ome time.
Pluses:
1. You can get 90% success rates on anything you automate.
2. You can automate everything, especially platforms which Xrumer or GSA does not suport.
3. Basicly - sky's the limit
Example:
I used Xrumer to make profiles on Vbulletin forums. I took this ones which Xrumer couldn't reach. I've spent 1 week on making very pecise custom bot for it, including all possible fields, checkboxes and captchas that can show up (or not). And I've made a very precise text captcha reader and implemented mysql database with my own answers (in UTF-8). Effect ?
90 % success rates on making profiles, where Xrumer had 0%. Even chinesse or arabic text captchas were filled with no problems, but I've made text captcha database by myself (manually) using translators.

Manual work is most important, other than using such tools, you can use them no issue but there must be also some manual work as well, try for some best method in linkbuilding, pbn, guestpost, press release, social bookmarking, web 2.0 tier 1's and see the power of manual work

When have some general ideas of SEO process, choose some strategies that could leverage the power of Auto-linkbuilding like (Short-term ranking) and plan to buy some softwares. In my opinion, order someone's services that using the software that you're about to purchasing to see whether it fit to your need or not.
If it's not fit, move on and accept to loose some buck.
